Strong Boy

B is a big kid.  He is 9 but about the size of a sturdy 12 year old.  He loves being strong.  He is always interested in trying to beat P in arm wrestling.  Once when P had already lifted weights, he let B try and B won.  Here is a great one of B and L with their powers combined, they could not defeat P.  It's only a matter of time though.  B is gigantic and growing quickly.

Hairs were cut

We were having a fire on the back porch.  S'mores is a semi-regular activity around here.  We were having so much fun throwing twigs and pine needles on the fire.  Suddenly B threw a lump of something onto the fire.  It writhed and I thought he had thrown some sort of insect nest on the fire.  It turns out he cut of a handful of hair and threw it on the fire.  Oh boy.

Thing explainer

B has been taking lessons with LB.  He has been diligent about practicing and doing the theory assignments.  I'm so glad it is working out for him.

Tonight we had some pineapple, peach salsa.  We all thought it tasted a little strange.  B said "This is how it is, it starts off really sweet and then it gets way too hot!"

B is very tall for 9 and I know it is hard for him that people always think he is 11 or older.  Sometimes he is just that little kid playing in the dirt.  I've been teaching an art class at co-op and though he's one of the biggest kids in the 9-12 year old class, he's happy to have a group of 9 year old boys and girls to play with.

One time at the co-op another boy was trying to exclude girls from play.  B and lP did not like that.  I'm so glad B values his lady friends.

Glasses and armwrestling

P has been doing PT work on his arms.  It makes him so exhausted that B beat him in arm wrestling.

We went to the UF eye Dr and they said B's eyes were stable so he could now start wearing glasses.  We stopped by grandma's house and made caramel corn.

B's good and beautiful work told him to make gnocchi, shown here.

Happy Farmer!

Sweet glasses.
A recent trip to the thrift store brought these awesome building sticks to our lives.

scootering

We've been taking scooters to Treaty park this week first thing in the morning.  We are there before it gets hot or crowded.  B was very dubious about the whole idea but is now very adventurous.  I'm grateful for his caution.

chess man

B got really into chess after I got back from Virginia.  He beat me a few times.  He would play 4 games on some days.  Intense!

He had an Activity Boys event on the night we all went mini-golfing with the Youth.  So I took him and L for an early morning game.  B enjoyed playing each hole a few times and was aware of the par for the hole.  He liked it if he got par but it was still fun to just play.

At Disney Springs he rode the merry go round and was sad it was kinda boring.  Growing up is like that.  He is a cautious kid.  When we were doing some wet slide action in Gtowne he would go down very slowly.  I'm glad he has always had a good sense of not dying.

He is more determined than most kids about wearing his mask.  The 3 peas got their boosters recently.  He loves to wear pants and would wear pants swimming if that was an option.

Biggest 9 year old yet

B is learning and growing.  We enjoyed playing checkers this week.
He loves to play outside and is quick to help out.
When he was measured on his birthday he was taller than M on her 10th birthday!  Here he is in a shirt that grandma p gave him.

B likes to eat

We are trying different ways to get B and lP to do their work.  Most recently we had them finish their work before they could have lunch.  B rebelled recently and asked to go back to doing a subject for each meal.  He does handwriting for breakfast, math for lunch, and good and beautiful for dinner.  So far, he has gotten all his work done by lunch.  I don't know why it is different, but it is and he's been great for 2 days.

piano lessons with M

B had a stubborn relationship with his piano teacher.  It was worse through the pandemic.  During the summer B and lP took lessons with M which went OK.  It was not worse than his lessons with his previous teacher because M could just sit on him a little meaner than his previous teacher would.  B got to play in the recital with M last weekend.  He really liked the refreshments.
